Run by John and his sister Tracy, Thornfield Day Care is a family run business with firsthand experience of adult disability and illness care. John and Tracy became adult carers over 20 years ago when their mother, Christine, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at the age of just 51; this following the sudden loss of their father and Christine’s husband just 12 months earlier.

After the developing early onset dementia which accelerated Christine’s condition John and Tracy took it upon themselves to share the responsibility of their Mums care, recognising the need for continued social inclusion and a passive active lifestyle to enrich Christine’s life everyday as her conditions progressed.

This was the start of Thornfield Day Care and Christine is still enjoying daily excursions with her children as well as the many friends she has made along the way.
